EdgeFlex — Radiographic (X-ray) Crawler System

EdgeFlex is a radiographic (X-ray) inspection system distributed by RAE Energy — the field crawler NDT crews clamp onto a pipeline girth weld to capture digital radiographic images of the weld's internal condition. It is the radiography counterpart to the Matrix UT / UT Scan ultrasonic systems.

What EdgeFlex is

• Radiographic / X-ray weld inspection — RT and digital radiography (DR), not ultrasonics.
• Field crawler system that positions on the weld for repeatable exposures.
• Digital records that archive and can be enhanced for review.

Why NDT companies deploy it

• Volumetric weld inspection — radiography sees inside the weld for porosity, slag, cracks and lack of fusion.
• Digital workflow — faster capture and review than film, with archivable images.
• Data for analysis — digital radiographic images are structured records that review software can work with.
