Field-Joint Coating Materials

Liquid Epoxy (LE)

Liquid Epoxy (LE) may be used as a reliable alternative to FBE due to its rapid curing time, resistance to cathodic disbondment, chemical abrasion, mechanical resistance, and UV protection. It is also commonly used for touch-ups and maintenance and/or to rehabilitate FBE and asphalt wrap/coal tar epoxy-coated pipelines.

LE Layering

Single or Dual Layer LE

When applied as a base coat primer for Heat Shrink Sleeve (HSS) or as a second layer over a Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating, the Liquid Epoxy (LE) coating provides effective abrasion resistance, increased flexibility, rugged terrain protection, increased cathodic disbondment resistance, and is designed for easy application.

LE Equipment

RAE’s LE coatings are applied by brush, sponge, paint spray kit, flame sprayer, or handheld extruder. RAE has extensive experience with these manual coating processes at a spoolbase or aboard a pipelay vessel.
